2011 Summer Movie Guide

The Hollywood summer season already began on May 1st but this summer is looking forward to the release of many new big movies and sequels. Here's a rundown of what to keep an eye out for:

The Hangover 2 (May 26)
The original cast of The Hangover come back again for yet another bachelor party, but this time in Thailand. They vow not to let their Vegas experience happen again, but after a wild night, they find themselves looking at deja vu.

Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom (May 26)
Jack Black reprises his role as the lovable panda, Po, in the sequel of mega hit Kung Fu Panda. Po goes on a journey to search for other pandas and his origin, all while battling a mysterious villain.

X-Men: First Class (June 3)
The prequel of the popular series, X-Men, tells us how X-Men first came into being. The movie talks about how Professor X and Magneto became mortal enemies after being best of friends. Set in the 1960s, these superheroes hide their true identity to avoid being ostracized by peers.

Super 8 (June 10)
Super 8 follows the story of 6 kids who were trying to film their own zombies movie when they accidentally filmed a train wreck, which released something inhuman into their town.

The Green Lantern (June 17)
Ryan Reynolds stars as the Green Lantern/Hal Jordan who stumbles onto a mysterious green ring that allows him to protect the world and gain access to an international league of superheroes who are tasked to keep peace in the world.

Cars 2 (June 24)
Lightning McQueen is back along with fellow car Mater as they travel around the world to participate in the world's first ever World Grand Prix to see who the fastest car is. But loyalty and friendships are tried once more when Mater gets mixed up in a secret espionage mission.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (July 1)
The sequel to the hit movie Transformers turned out to be critically bombed but that didn't stop hardcore fans from watching. Now the third movie of the series will be released with Shia LaBeouf reprising his role and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley taking Megan Fox's place.

Horrible Bosses (July 8th)
Thought you had a terrible boss? Think again. This comedy may be the second big comedy hit of the year after Bridesmaids opened to rave reviews. Watch how three friends plot to do away with their terrible bosses.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (July 15)
Need I say more? The second part of the last installment of the series has fans waiting excitedly to see the film adaptation and conclusion. Hold tight to your seats for this one! This is a definite must-see!

Captain America (July 22)
Captain America was just your ordinary man of Steve Rogers, who joined a top-secret program after being rejected from the military. He now serves to protect America's ideals.

The Smurfs (July 29)
Your lovable blue gnomes known as the Smurfs come to the big screen in live-action. Evil wizard Gargamel chases the blue Smurfs out of their own village and into The Big Apple.

Rise of the Planet of Apes (August 5)
James Franco has probably the most varied resume out there and plays the role of a scientist who leads the world into an all-out war.

Final Destination 5 (August 26)
The fifth installment of this horror series will be out and our newest protagonists will be fighting their way against Death to stop the pre-destined deaths.

Which movie are you the most excited for? I'm super duper excited about Harry Potter, but sad that it'll be the last one! It reminds me, I need to go buy HP 6 and HP7: Part 1 to have a Harry Potter marathon before watching the last one!
