ABC has recently given a greenlight for a pilot episode of The Avengers spin-off show S.H.I.E.L.D. The live-action series will be co-written and possibly directed by Joss Whedon, who also written and directed The Avengers.

The project by Marvel TV and ABC Studios will tell about the peacekeeping organization Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate or Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, in short: S.H.I.E.L.D. This organization was already found IS both the Marvel comic book series of the same name as well as the blockbuster 2012 movie The Avengers.
