Lionsgate has already found the the leading lady of "The Hunger Games," which is Jennifer Lawrence, but now we're looking her fellow male district tribute, Peeta Mellark, and her hunting partner, Gale Hawthorne. Apparently there's already a select few of actors up for the consideration for the role of Peeta. Let's find out who the contenders are...
According to THR, the most popular competitors include Josh Hutcherson, Lucas Till and Hunter Parrish. Personally, I think it'd be bizarre to have Hutcherson play Peeta, especially if you try to pair him up with Jennifer Lawrence. Till may be a bit better choice but I think Parrish has it best in the looks department for the role.
There are two other contenders - Evan Peters (from the film "Kick-Ass") and Alexander Ludwig (from "Escape to Witch Mountain"). They're very much lacking in the looks for Peeta though. They've got experience from films but certainly not too many to be impressed by. I'm rooting for Parrish at number one and Till is close behind.
Those who are in consideration of Gale are Liam Hemsworth, David Henrie, Robbie Amell and Drew Roy (as we know of so far).
I'm quite disappointed by these choices because none have truly impressed us in films, at all. Three out of four are in Disney and Nickelodeon shows which isn't something to be ashamed of but doesn't show that they're prepared for huge movie opportunities. Hemsworth, I'm curious about because he doesn't exactly fit Gale's appearance perfectly and his acting leaves much wanted but he's an undecided for me. Henrie is not in my favor because I just don't see it to be honest. Amell has a boyish charm that I never imagined as Gale so he's not in my preference either. Drew Roy - I can definitely imagine him as a Gale somewhat, but he has very minimal projects for us to watch to see his acting chops. I'd say I'm rooting for mostly Hemsworth or Roy...but I'm really on the fence.
I really wished that they'd find some unknowns and actors from outside of Disney or Nickelodeon for the role of Gale though. I'll be anticipating the cast!
