MTV has recently announced that the upcoming sixth season of Jersey Shore will be the final season of the series. Closing after three years, this final season will start on Thursday, October 4th, at 10pm ET/PT.

To commemorate the end of the show, MTV will be hosting a one-hour farewell show called "Gym, Tan, Look Back" starting this Thursday, September 6th at 6pm ET/PT, just before the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. The special show will feature the most memorable moments from the series as well as interviews with the cast.
