In a red, form-fitting, floor-length gown, with her hair pulled back at the neck, Sparks is looking up, with her arms outstretched. She strikes a very diva-like pose and is giving it all for her adoring audience and public — because, really, that’s what a pop diva does.
The movie is set in the 1960s, telling the story of three sisters who form a girl group and quickly become Motown sensations. Though fame becomes a challenge as the close-knit family begins to fall apart. It's actually based on the 1976 movie of the same name that was inspired by the Supreme. Though this remake gets extra notice, since it also stars the late, great Whitney Houston in her last film role. She plays the mother of the sisters, as well as, a failed singer herself. I get a "Dream Girls"-esque vibe, don't you think?
"Sparkle" is set to shine in theaters on August 17.
