A poster has surfaced that’s claimed to be leaked posters for The Wolverine. The sequel to 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, follows our superhero's search of more clues about his origin which leads him to Japan.
This leaked poster teases the Japan setting, along with what looks like the Japanese flag sliced by Wolverines claws. The Japanese words for “Japan” are Nippon (most commonly used) and Nihon which translate to “Land of the Rising Sun,” hence the design Japan’s national flag and the tagline in the teaser poster reading “rising soon.”
The style of the poster screams ’80s (when the Japanese story arc was told in the books) and its simplicity and font of the title work very well to get the message across to fans knowledgeable of the books and fans who simply enjoy Jackman’s take on the character in the films.
However, no confirmation (nor denial) from 20th Century Fox has been announced yet. It’s possible that this is simply production artwork that someone took a picture of, or it could be entirely fanmade. Whatever the case, it’s pretty cool.
Under the direction of James Mangold, filming on The Wolverine is set to get underway later this year once Hugh Jackman wraps Les Miserables.
The Wolverine slashes into theaters July 26, 2013.
