'Scream' TV series in the works for MTV

'Ghostface' is bringing his reign of terror to the small screen as MTV is developing a weekly series based on the Scream film franchise.

Former MTV executives, Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley, are leading the project under their DiGa production shingle and are on the hunt for a writer to pen the pilot. It’s uncertain what role, if any, Scream auteurs Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven will have in the potential series.

The four Scream flicks have brought in $500 million globally, although the most recent pic - last year’s Scream 4 - only grossed $40 million domestically. Reality-obsessed MTV has found success on the scripted side with hits Teen Wolf and Awkward. Hopefully, their Scream series will be successful as well.

I don't know if this would be that successful like the movies, but I'll be sure to watch it when I have the chance ^^

Why do they always try to make a successful movie into a tv show...I don't think it'd be as good.

Hm, I'm not sure if the TV series would be as good as the movies... It should still be fairly successful, but maybe won't catch on very much.
